Back to the grind..

First off let me start off by wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas! I know its been a minute or two since I have updated, but one of my New Year resolutions are to blog more often. Thus said, I have been a busy little bee lately.. Working a lot, and trying to find time to schedule in time set aside for creativeness, can be a little stressful, but I am working on it!
I have recently returned for a well deserved and awaited vacation back in my home away from homes, Chicago! I can not begin to tell you how much I needed it, and I was overjoyed to be welcome and reunited with my lovely soulmate Ana! It really felt as if I just had been living in my old stomping grounds, working a lot, and just came over to hang out with my best bud! I couldn't have wished for a better time, and had an amazing homey stay at house de Culajay! Here are some pictures from the trip, enjoy!

// Expect updates very soon! //

I'm definitely in my zone

I have been doing pretty good lately. Work has been going well, I don't think I have ever worked for a company that appreciates their employes as much as H&M does. I also have been so easily inspired lately, the littlest things are calling out to me! With that said I have been using my fashionary sketchbook even more.. Sketching down all of my ideas, and forming them into small but powerful collection pieces. From here on out, I have concluded that I will be uploading a page a week, maybe more, but nothing less. Unfortunately you will not have the luxury of seeing everything I design, but I need to keep somethings to myself right.. So in spirit, I give you a recent submission to the portfolio!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Usually I am the last person to say "add some vibrant color to that" but needless to say I was feeling a little colorful while designing this. So here it is, something out of the ordinary..

Again the pictures to the left of these ladies are simply my inspiration images and items.. I plan to add fabric swatches as well when I get a chance to head to the fabric store!

FUTURISTIC FRENZY

Recently I have been infatuated with the idea of simplicity in design. I am in a totally different environment, and I think it may do me some good...
I have a pretty good eye for spotting awesome prints and picturing them as a complete garment. I can't get enough of stripes and geometric shapes mixed with solids, but not to many designers can do the two justice... Until I discovered the Dior Haute Couture Fall 2011 show! I have always been a fan of The House of Dior, but today ladies and gentlemen, I have far more respect! The hard black geometric lines in some of the skirts and jackets are to die for, the shades of pastels are amazing, and the architectural shapes resting on the heads of the models just completed it for me!

Not to long ago, a good friend of mine introduced me to the new age of sketchbooks, Fashionary sketchbooks! Not only are these amazing sketchbooks, but the new editions come with Patterns, flat drawings, monthly calendar, fashion events, spec sheets, measurement tools, and much more! I received mine last friday (came earlier then it was expected) and I absolutely love it and could not be more pleased! I highly suggest investing in one of these babies, especially if your a fashion student.. At a whopping $23.90 and free shipping, you cant beat it!
